Job Description:
Position Summary: VTC Technician provides video teleconference support services for our government customer in the Arlington, VA area and surrounding NCR locations.  The technician position is responsible for Tier 2 troubleshooting of VTC endpoints and conference rooms. 
  • Schedule, monitor, and provide VTCs and conduct routine operational tests and fault isolation on VTC electronic systems and equipment
  • Optimize system operations and resource utilization
  • Provide assistance to users in accessing and using systems
  • Maintain and operate a wide variety of VTC equipment to include cameras, microphones, audio and video playback, recording, and duplication devices
  • Provide assistance t users in accessing and using systems

  • Monitor all component equipment and takes the appropriate corrective action for restoral to operational readiness
  • Oversee scheduling deadlines
  • Coordinate audio feeds with visual images
  • Send equipment for repairs as needed
  • Ensure the safe transfer and shipment of equipment
  • Maintain accountability of equipment
  • Clean audio and video equipment and store properly
  • Ensure the safe storage and integrity of data
  • Ability to video record in the Auditorium and ability to store recorded data
  • Demonstrate familiarity with AMX equipment
  • Troubleshoot audio/visual equipment during high profile meetings
  • Serve as primary technical point of contact for all audio/visual issues
  • Train customers on operations of audio/visual equipment
  • Aid in the development of step-by-step guides and documentation
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition
  • Demonstrate knowledge of how to input and incorporate data into digital signage system
  • Record meetings and presentations with video recording equipment, adjust amplifiers, coordinate graphics used in displays and provide technical support for video teleconferences, webinars and distance learning class
  • Transport, assemble, maintain and repair equipment used in multimedia production
  • Demonstrate knowledge of audio/visual techniques is essential, and familiarity with editing equipment and software may be required
  • Manage, coordinate, schedule, and oversee all events within the Doyle Northrop Conference Center to include operation of audio/visual and video teleconferencing equipment
  • Able to sit to stand for long periods of time during meetings, and capable of providing or attending meeting briefs
  • Experience with Tandberg/Cisco Video Teleconferencing Architecture to include infrastructure equipment configuration and dial plan infrastructure as well as Infrastructure equipment to include:  MPS MCUs, VCS Control, VCS Expressway, ISDN Gateways, and Tandberg Management System (TMS)
  • Candidate will be required to perform required maintenance of all VTC equipment including patching, upgrades.
  • Candidate will be required to configure and install Tandberg Equipment (VCS Gatekeepers, Codian MCU, TMS, Content Server, and Tandberg VTC Units.
  • Experience with video streaming (live and on demand streaming)
  • Experience specifically with VBrick Video Streaming solution (Vbrick VEMS, Encoders, Video On Demand Server(VODS) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of multicast routing and protocols (ROUTING: PIM Sparse Mode, PIM Dense Mode, PROTOCOLS: IGMP, MSDP)
  • Candidate must have the ability to remotely troubleshoot Tandberg VTC units located at the various sites around the country.
  • Candidate shall provide assistance in the scheduling, planning, coordinating, and operation of VTC equipment.
  • Candidate will provide support for all hardware and software related requirements for various VTC sites, including room-based VTC systems and desktop VTC units.
  • Candidate must have the ability to use TMS software to setup and configure Video Teleconference units, upgrade phone books, and firmware on both Tandberg and Polycom VTC units.
  • Candidate consults with client(s) and internal engineering groups to create and/or review requirements, functional specifications and detailed designs.
