Position Title: System Safety Engineer
Location: Huntsville, AL
Position Status: Full-Time, Direct Hire 

Job Summary
  • Conduct system safety assessments and hazard analysis of hardware and software in a variety of US Army weapon and combat systems (missiles, rockets, radars, launchers, and communications) and related support equipment IAW Mil-Std-882E.
  • Prepare, update, or assist in the development of Software System Safety (SSS) Assessment Reports, Analysis, and Risk Assessments.
  • Prepare, review, or input to System Safety Management Plans (SSMPs) and System Safety Program Plans (SSPPs) and related program management safety documentation.
  • Conduct or review software safety assessments of new, updated, and/or modified weapon system and combat hardware and software, including change, waiver, and exemption requests.
  • Assess system test documentation for incorporation of software system safety-related requirements and testing to verify/validate system safety requirements.
  
Education:
  • Minimum of an Active Secret DoD Clearance
  • Minimum of 10 years applicable System Safety Engineering experience, with focus in Software Safety
  • Bachelors in Engineering, Science, or equivalent.

Additional Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong System Safety approval process experience delineated in Mil-Std-882E, Safety Military Standards (e.g., Mil-Std-1901A / 1316E), and Army Regulation AMCOM-Reg 385-17
  • Strong Software System Safety experience with DOD Joint Software System Safety Engineering Handbook
  • Experience with the Government Software Safety approval processes delineated in Mil-Std-882E, AMCOM-Reg 385-17, and STANAG 4404.
  • Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Verification/Validation Training
