Position Description:
Our client is looking for SQL Database Administrator candidates for a position located in Birmingham, Al.  Seeking candidates to be responsible for providing operational and development support services to the organization. Primary responsibilities of this role include owning, tracking, and resolving database related incidents and requests, performance tuning, backups, patching, remediation of security vulnerabilities.
 
Education Requirement:
  • Bachelor’s degree, MCSA: SQL Server certified, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator.
 
Skills:
  • Manage backup, and recovery processes to ensure recovery timelines can be met.
  • Assist application development in environmental restores.
  • Notification/Alerts management and resolution (e.g. SQL Agent Job Failures, Capacity Shortages, System Outages, etc.)
  • Fluent understanding of basic database instance maintenance tasks (e.g. DB Integrity Checks, Index Maintenance, etc.).
  • Ability to configure security within established guidelines and perform related task/audits.
  • Work with business stake holders on internal and third party audits.
  • Deployment of database change scripts provided application development teams.
  • Advise developers on the most efficient database design (tables, datatypes, stored procedures, etc.).
  • Build and maintain documentation related to the company’s database environment.
