Position Description:
Our client is looking for PMO Manager candidates for a position located in Birmingham, Alabama.  This position leads the planning, organizing, and integration of cross-functional information technology projects to deliver specific results. Responsibilities include leading a team of individuals through the IT project lifecycle; the development and management of project charters/business cases, budgets, work plans, communication plans, issue logs and risk processes. Leads cross functional teams, vendors, and contractors in the completion of program and/or project related tasks.
  • Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with management and stakeholders.
  • Facilitates the drafting and submission of project budgets, and recommend subsequent budget changes where necessary with justifications.
  • Contributes in preparation of initial project timelines and cost estimates; benefits; feasibility; and priority for PMO review.
  • Develop full-scale project plans for approved projects and associated communications documents.
  • Identify and manage project dependencies and critical path.
  • Track project milestones and deliverables.
  • Proactively manage changes in project scope, identify potential risks, and develop contingency plans.
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Facilitate definition of project success criteria, obtain approval from sponsor, and disseminate them to involved parties throughout project life cycle.
  • Effectively communicates and consistently sets project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Determine and assess need for additional staff and/or consultants and aids in the appropriate recruitments if necessary during project cycle.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
  • Is knowledgeable regarding the details of all assigned projects and capable of providing updates on request.
  • Assists in the review of contracts, which are or will be associated with assigned projects.
  • Compiles IT PMO metrics as required.
  • Assists in the documentation of IT PMO standards, policies and procedures.
  • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to appropriate personnel.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team.
  • Works with project teams to ensure that projects are delivered on-time and within budget.
  • Facilitates the process to identify risks and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Provides coaching, mentoring & guidance to the project teams, IT staff, and network staff where appropriate.
  • Provides input to staff evaluations.
  • When required, leads or assists with the development of Requests for Proposals (RFP) for external products and/or services
  • Assist in the development of best practices and tools for project execution and management.
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, (or relevant major) or equivalent work experience is required.
