Shifts: Monday – Friday (7am - 3pm)
The Process Engineer provides technical expertise to develop and improve manufacturing processes.
The Process Engineer’s essential functions include:
  • Develop, plan, and implement process or product improvement projects in a manufacturing environment.
  • Provide technical support to production, maintenance, engineering, and sales and marketing groups.
  • Develop processes to maximize capacity utilization, minimize cost and provide and statistically sound product performance.
  • Document all work and write technical reports.
  • Develop work instruction for new lab.
  • Champion root cause analysis for metallurgical issues.
  • Work in cross-functional teams to support plant business goals and objectives.
  • Lead and/or contribute to continuous improvement and six sigma project teams.
  • Maintain manufacturing practices and procedures to optimize product quality/performance.
  • Support plant safety initiatives through active involvement in the safety process.
  • Supports quality system requirements as mandated by customer requirements, TS 16949, ASTM, AMS, etc. – Governing process and heat-treating specification requirements
  • Conduct designed experiments involving Extrusion, Stretching, draw and Heat Treatment and other manufacturing/metallurgical processes
  • Provide support to various QA Department functions – Audits, material disposition, calibration and general systems support
Minimum undergraduate degree in Metallurgy or Material Science.
  • 5+ years previous experience.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.
  • Proven ability to work in a low supervision environment while successfully meeting goals.
  • Experience working in the automotive industry.
  • Experience managing technical projects/initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent analytical skills (statistical data analysis experience is a plus).
  • Strong PC skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, and various data collection and analysis packages to be self-sufficient in data acquisition, analysis, and report writing.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and organizational skills. 
  • Proven ability to work in teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Be energetic, disciplined and focused on a team building operational organization. 
  • Be well organized.
  • Have well developed interpersonal and business partnering skills, with the ability to quickly adapt to, be accepted by, and interrelate with the organization at all levels.

  • Approximately 20% of the job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions. 80% of the job function is required in the plant. There is exposure to heat, irritant chemicals, operating machinery, and loud noise.
