Position Description:
Our client is looking for Procurement – IT Buyer for a position located in Richmond, VA.  Our client is seeking a full time Procurement Specialist I to conduct procurements of assigned goods and services at an intermediate level for all patient age groups in an expeditious manner with an emphasis on insuring the day-to-day requisition needs of user departments are met by creating purchase orders and resolving order conflicts in product, unit of measure, pricing and delivery. Analyzes requisitions to determine proper method of procurement and opportunities for cost savings. Establishes small dollar contracts with suppliers for recurring type commodities. Insures favorable terms, conditions and pricing are achieved for our client using standard procurement principles and practices.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Functions independently receiving only general supervision from management.
  • Evaluates requisitions and purchase orders for correctness.
  • Negotiates with vendors.
  • Keeps management informed of potential problem areas.
  • Regular and frequent contacts (telephone, written and in person) with all levels of the organization to gather information and/or respond to concerns.
  • Uses technology effectively.
  • Process a high volume of multifaceted work and multiple assignments.
  • Capable of making effective decisions to resolve purchase order discrepancies.
 
Qualifications
 
Required Skills:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two (2) years of previous work experience negotiating, bidding and establishing term contracts for specialized goods and services
  • Previous work experience using/designing spreadsheets, databases and word processing
 
Preferred:
  • Associates Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain or related field
  • Minimum of three (3) years of previous work experience negotiating, bidding and establishing term contracts for specialized goods and services
  • Experience in healthcare organization working in a support services type operation
