Position Description:
Our client is looking for Tax Manager candidates for a position located in Richmond, VA.  The client is a leading accounting services firm, dedicated to bringing the best financial solutions to their clientele.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Serve as liaison among senior managers, partners, clients, and staff.  Handle all phases of tax engagements
  • Review a variety of returns (e.g., individual, estate, trust, and corporate) and supply staff with feedback and guidance.  Document review notes in a clear, understandable format
  • Participate in tax planning for clients
  • Prepare engagement letters, oversee all phases of client work, and monitor budgets; schedule and conduct meetings related to client engagements and staff communications
  • Review staff assignments to assess appropriateness; work with peers and staff to reassign work
  • Serve as the main point of contact for multiple clients and directly handle tax-related communication with clients' attorneys, brokers, or other third parties
  • Consult clients by proactively seeking creative solutions, communicating deadlines, and seeking opportunities
  • Participate in the development of staff through one-on-one teachable moments and offering feedback on a regular basis; also seeking feedback from others
  • Enrich the career development of others by participating in the Mentor program and serving as a strong Advocate for direct reports
  • Actively participate in the generation of additional business by seeking out new clients and follow-through with leads
  • Demonstrate competency in technical skills and share expertise by seeking opportunities to train/speak to internal and external audiences and write articles and blog postings
  • Develop appropriate computer skills including standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, and time entry), and tax preparation software
  • Contribute to and foster a positive work environment
Job Requirements:
  • Active CPA license
  • At least 5 years of experience in public accounting, tax consulting, or other related work experience; at least 3 years experience at the Manager level preferred
  • Ability to develop relationships with current and potential clients
