Position Title: Systems Administrator
Location: Birmingham, Alabama
Position Status: Full Time/Direct Hire
Job Summary
The System Administrator maintains and supports the integrity of the operating system environment and various computer systems.  This individual administers, installs and troubleshoots a variety of operating systems.  They are responsible for the technical design, planning, implementation and the highest level of performance tuning and recovery procedures for the mission critical enterprise systems.  
Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for patching and monitoring systems
  • Responsible for system architecture
  • Handles downtime procedures, such as server patching
  • Liaison with vendor regarding architecture, administrative decisions, implementation support and Tier 3 support
  • Facilitates and manages the change control process
  • Creates and monitors tickets and works tickets to closure
  • Documents infrastructure, system, system objects and processes
  • Troubleshoots issues
  • Handles on-call as assigned
  • Builds relationships with end users and peers
  • Develops standards, guidelines and/or processes for database systems
  • Stays current with industry standards and regulations
  • Researches new tools
  • Stays current with upcoming upgrades
  • Designs infrastructure
  • Coordinates monthly downtime
  • Trains users and new staff on systems
  • Attends and facilitates meetings as needed
  • Answers technical and procedural questions for Analysts
  • Handles requirements gathering
  • Performs other duties as required.
Education /Experience
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience or
  • 6 years of equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications
·          Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and 2+ years of experience
Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries
  • Windows administration experience or certification required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Must have knowledge of the following:
  • ALL Scripts
  • .net
  • PowerShell
  • Scripting
  • Microsoft Suite
  • XML
  • Report writing
  • SQL
  • AD
  • Must have excellent analytical and problem solving skills for data gathering and fact finding
  • Must have knowledge of programming, development, and databases
  • Must have experience with software development life cycle and IT service management
