Our client is looking for a Senior Network Engineer for a position located in Richmond, VA. Candidates must work on site.

Primary Function
This position is responsible for Network operations including Local Data Center , Wide Area Networks and Telecommunications infrastructure. The position plans, directs, and coordinates the design, installation, and connectivity of network systems to ensure the stable operation of the organization's communications needs. This includes developing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, load balancing, and optimizing all new and existing data flows, software, and communication links. The position will collaborate with an experienced team of Network, Telecom and Security specialists to resolve Network related issues in a timely and accurate fashion.

Requires expert knowledge of IP Networking including routing, switching, TCP/IP, IP subnetting, load balancing, traffic optimization, performance monitoring, Cisco IOS, BGP, EIGRP, Frame Relay, ACL’s, HSRP, MPLS, SNMP, SFTP, SSH, STP, hierarchical NTP design, TACACS, RADIUS, VLAN trunking, and various VPN technologies. Extensive hands on experience with Cisco routers and switches, circuit provisioning experience, and analysis of packet captures for the purposes of troubleshooting are also required.
Requires advanced knowledge and understanding of QoS, IPsec, vPC’s, Nexus NX-OS, VRF’s, various network admin and monitoring tools, Firewalls, Blade Enclosure Networking in a virtual environment, load balancing, and wireless solutions.
Requires a general understanding of Cisco UCS, DMVPN, iWAN, ISE, and telephony including SIP, PBX, and VoIP.

Demonstrates network, security infrastructure, and systems design experience using industry best practices.
Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills are required. Must have experience in capturing and analyzing traffic using packet capturing tools.
Identify and remedy weaknesses in the environment.
Strong organizational skills required.
Exceptional technical documentation skills required (Flow diagrams, network maps, technical writing, etc.)

Ability to collaborate/brainstorm across multiple IT teams to create the best infrastructure designs.
Ability to complete projects on time including the necessary documentation
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees/management
Ability to self motivate and work independently
Ability to quickly shuffle tasks based on changing priorities

Minimum Education and Experience:  
Bachelor's degree in related IT field or appropriate combination of education, experience, and professional and/or expert level certifications in the networking field.
Experience in a Cisco based medium to large data center environment.
Experience with multi-location WAN support.
Experience with converged data networks.

Physical Requirements:
This job requires the ability to sit for long periods of time.
This job requires occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds and/or up to 30 pounds frequently.
