Job Summary Exercising independent judgment, operates one or more pieces of bindery equipment, including a folder, cutter, knife, sitma, saddle stitcher, perfect binder, gluer or mailing machine.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions) These are functions a qualified incumbent or applicant must be able to perform with or without reasonable accommodation. * Ensures books are bound in accordance with the docket, dummy and quality standards. * Ensures team is informed of and understands job requirements. * Ensures proper machine set-up, operation, maintenance and housekeeping. * May provide advice, training and guidance to Bindery Operators and Assistants. Other (Non-Essential)
Functions Includes functions which are normally performed by persons holding this title. However, these functions may be reassigned to other employees as part of a "Reasonable Accommodation" under the ADA. Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
* High School diploma or equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
* Excellent math skills;
* Thorough knowledge of bindery equipment operation.
* Ability to operate bindery equipment and machines, and to detect malfunctions;
* Ability to follow and apply verbal and written instructions;
* Knowledge of federal and state hazardous waste handling and disposal regulations. Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud (hearing protection is provided and required). The employee is often required to sit; climb or balance; and walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
* Employee must have the ability to remain standing for an entire shift.
* Employee must have the ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
