Position Title: Senior Cybersecurity Analyst
Location: Birmingham, AL
Position Status: Contract to Hire
Summary:
The Senior Cybersecurity Analyst is a network security-oriented position that designs, implements and monitors security controls and systems. This position is responsible for maintenance and operation of these systems to ensure that they are adequate and effective. This position is part of a multi-disciplinary team that serves as a security resource for IT operations and business owners to assist in meeting both their business and security objectives.
 
Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain SIEM, IDS/IPS, and other security-related technology platforms
  • Recommend security controls and configurations to accomplish monitoring objectives
  • Execute daily operational monitoring of security systems and event sources including: SIEM, IDS/IPS, malware prevention system, and system logs
  • Investigate security events and either remediate or escalate into incident response process
  • Coordinate with security governance personnel to maintain security documentation and procedures
  • Evaluate new technologies and processes that enhance security capabilities
 
Qualifications
  • US Citizenship
  • BS in Computer Science or directly related field
  • 5+ years relevant cyber security experience
  • CISSP, CISM, GSEC or similar certification
  • Familiarity with concepts related to security disciplines such as: malware analysis, computer forensics, cyber incident response, network intrusion detection, network traffic and packet analysis, penetration testing, or vulnerability scanning
  • Experience with SIEM or IDS/IPS
  • Demonstrate experience in multiple security disciplines such as: malware analysis, computer forensics, cyber incident response, network intrusion detection, network traffic and packet analysis, penetration testing, vulnerability scanning, compliance, audit, or cyber threat intelligence.
  • Self-starter with an internal drive for continuous improvement.
  • Must be a team-oriented individual who works well with others and places a premium on the group’s success.
  • Strong organizational, and communications skills.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • BS in a cybersecurity-related field
  • Subject matter expert (SME) in one or more areas such as Windows, Linux, firewalls, networking, intrusion detection, threat detection/analysis, or information risk management.
  • Experience with SIEM applications
  • Experience with IDS/IPS technologies
  • Familiarity with NIST Risk Management Framework or NIST 800-171
