  • Candidate must demonstrate familiarity with the concepts, principles, methods, and practices relating to information technology management.
  • Implement methods for enhancing efficiency of telecommunications systems through modifications and applications of evolving technology at DeCA Headquarters, regions, training facilities, and stores worldwide.
  • Provide direct customer support to all DeCA commissaries ensuring all communications comply with industry standards.
  • This is performed by tasking, interfacing and coordinating daily with the DeCA VOIP Team and DeCA’s Remedy application.
  • Conduct telecommunications surveys, in the planning and implementing specific assignments that comprise part of an overall telecommunications system plan and the installation of new systems or services at remote locations.
  • Perform various personnel and telephone Move/Add/Changes such as: Troubleshoot phone outages and voicemail troubles, both within and outside of DeCA HQ. Track telephone voicemail accounts and equipment problems for all users.
  • Assist with applying new developments and advances in telecommunications techniques in the specialty area.
  • Support DeCA in the recommendation, installation, and upgrade of the VoIP phone system.
  • Support the Cable Plant by creating various cables to include CAT5, CAT6, and Fiber.
  • Also, aid in patching cables and terminating jacks at DeCA HQ and at stores during installation and support missions.
  • Experience with CAT 3/5 and fiber optic cable install, fabrication, splicing, termination.
  • Perform all aspects of job associated with fiber network media, patch panels, cabinets, UTP cabling, crossover cabling, backbone and horizontal cabling.
  • Use Cisco CL and Web Interfaces to configure and install hubs, switches, Wireless Access Points, and routers as needed.
Required: Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, with minimum of two years of experience or related field, or four years of DoD IT related experience. Candidate is required to meet DOD 8570 IAT Level I certification (A+, or Network+).
Desired: Any other relevant industry accepted certifications are highly desired. 
Travel: Travel to locations in the United States and overseas is required.
No Security Clearance Needed. Candidate must be able to pass a background check that will result in the issuance of a Common Access Card (CAC). This is a full-time position located in Fort Lee, VA.
