Warehouse Supervisor

Position Title: Warehouse Supervisor
Location: Lincoln, AL
Position Status: Direct hire/salaried, 1st shift
 
Position Description:
Warehouse Supervisor is primarily responsible for managing shipping, receiving, warehouse light assembly, and ancillary receiving and shipping and trucking teams. This position partners with the assembly manufacturing manager and spare parts manager to receive and ship out complete orders for the entire facility in a safe, timely, efficient manner. This leader will be responsible for overseeing team of warehouse team leaders, material handlers, inspectors, drivers and logistic clerks. This role will develop and execute a comprehensive material flow, shipping and warehousing plan designed to exceed customer requirements while keeping an eye on safety, cost savings, inventories and productivity efficiencies to improve results.
 
Responsibilities:
  • Managing off-site warehouse capacity and cost
  • Maintaining business relationships with logistics provider for domestic shipments
  • Partnering with internal suppliers to drive rapid order completion to meet customer delivery dates
  • Material receiving value stream (receipt to internal delivery).
  • Material shipment value stream (finished goods to delivery to customer).
  • Manage clerks and warehouse workers through directing work effort and priorities.
  • Implement cycle counting programs and corrective actions based on results.
  • Daily management of safety, quality, delivery, cost and inventory metrics; including identify and implement cost / quality / inventory improvement actions.
  • Participate or lead continuous improvement workshops to implement and sustain culture changes with emphasis on lean transformation of processes to drive out waste and improve quality, delivery and cost. This includes utilization of lean operations methods and other lean concepts such as 5s, Kaizens, Kanban Systems and Problem Solving tools, etc.
  • Work under Supply Chain Management team to help develop / strengthen ability to determine optimal stocking levels in MRP, KanBans.
  • Lead annual physical inventory for warehouse and finished goods as well as monthly finished goods inventory cycle counts.
  • Rationalize and improve warehouse logistics processes
 
Qualifications:
  • Have experience with inbound, outbound transportation and logistics management preferred ideally from a tier 1 automotive supplier or automotive manufacturer
  • Must be proficient using MS Office applications such as Excel and Word
  • Knowledge of SAP is a plus
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple activities simultaneously and successfully function in a cross functional manufacturing environment
  • Able to schedule necessary changes with production, logistics, materials, etc.
  • High attention to details required
  • A Bachelors' degree or equivalent education and experience
  • At least 3 years of relevant and progressive operations, supply chain, or logistics experience required.
  • At least 3 years of project management, analytical, strategic, problem solving experience; displaying an ability to work effectively within complex decision-making and organizational structures.
  • Strong leadership and teaming capabilities with the ability to operate independently, affect change across functions, and have a track record of delivered results.
  • Ability to drive results through tactical and strategic decision making.
  • Knowledge of a variety of operational excellence competencies including yet not limited to: Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, Toyota Production System Tools: Visual Management, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Policy Deployment, One-piece Flow, 6S, Kaizen, SMED, Kanban, Poke Yoke, Target Costing, Six Sigma and TPM.
  • Exceptional negotiation, written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects/work streams simultaneously.
  • Experience working independently in a highly decentralized yet matrixed, process oriented, and hands-on organization with the ability to resourcefully innovate and adapt in a rapidly changing, fast paced and complex environment.
  • Strong written/oral communication, effective presentation and facilitation, team and leadership development, conflict resolution, and influence skill.
  • Highly effective project management skills with a complete understanding of business process and the ability to integrate multiple resources for integrated solutions; execute flawlessly with high attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving and ability to assess the needs of the business and design and implement the best solutions
  • Ability to quickly learn, understand, and keep abreast of the drivers to company performance, the industry, customer segments, the business value proposition and how the company retains competitive advantage in the marketplace; defining the human capital aspects of business strategy and objectives
