Assistant Human Resources Manager

Position Title: Assistant Human Resources Manager
Location: Pell City, AL
Position Status: Direct Hire
 
Position Description:
Our client is looking for Assistant HR Manager candidates for a position located in Pell City, AL. The Human Resources Assistant Manager is responsible for developing and implementing policy, directing and overseeing some human resource activities such as team member relations, investigations, HR Metrics, some staffing and provides support to all levels of the management team.  This position also supports environmental health and safety (EHS Manager). The role reports to the Director of Human Resources for North. This position has 1 non-exempt direct report: and Receptionist (hourly).
 
Duties:
  • Assist in developing, implementing and administering company policy and procedure
  • Oversee such functions of human resources such as employment, recruiting, team member relations, and investigations
  • Identify staff vacancies and support recruitment with the HR Director, interview and select applicants
  • Provide current and prospective team members with information about policies, job duties, working conditions, wages, opportunities for promotion and employee benefits
  • Perform staffing duties, including dealing with understaffing, conflict resolution, investigations, administering disciplinary procedures and terminations
  • Advise managers on organizational policy matters such employment law
  • Plan and conduct new team member orientation to foster positive attitude toward organizational objectives
  • Serve as a link between management and team members by handling questions, interpreting and administering policy and helping resolve work-related problems
  • Plan, direct, supervise, and coordinate work activities of subordinate Analyze training needs to design team member development
  • Maintain records and compile statistical reports concerning personnel-related data such as turnover, and absenteeism rates
  • Analyze statistical data and reports to identify and determine causes of personnel problems and develop recommendations for improvement of organization's personnel policies and practices
  • Conduct exit interviews to identify reasons for team member termination
  • Oversee the evaluation, classification and rating of occupations and job positions
  • Develop and/or administer special projects as requested by management of as determined by business needs
  • Consult legal counsel to ensure that policies comply with federal law
  • Wage and salary administration
  • Administration of unemployment and disability compensation
  • Participate on Safety Committee
  • Capable of working with plant level employees as well as upper management
 
Computer Skills:
  • Must be proficient using MS Office applications such as Excel and Word.
  • Have a working knowledge of HRIS systems and be able to navigate supporting systems
 
Reasoning Ability:
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple activities simultaneously and successfully function in a cross functional manufacturing environment
 Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or equivalent bachelor’s degree, a master’s degree is preferred
  • Certification is desirable but not required
 
Work Experience and Technical Skills:
  • 5-7 years of progressive experience in the Human Resource in manufacturing, preferable automotive
  • Must have least 4 years supervising direct reports in human resources
  • Must have a working with EEO, FMLA, FLSA and other related employment laws
  • Must have experience with positive team member relations, in a union-free environment
  • Experience working in a lean manufacturing plant is a plus

  • Must be a skilled communicator two-way across all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to effectively coach for improved performance across all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively handle multiple activities simultaneously and successfully function in across all functional areas of HR staffing, payroll, benefits, team member relations
  • Must be an assertive change agent
