Position Title: Payroll Representative
Location: Richmond, VA 23219
Position Status: Direct Hire
Salary: Extremely competitive  
Shift: Monday - Friday (9am to 5pm)
 
Position Description:
Our client is looking for a Payroll Representative for a position located in Richmond, VA. This individual will be processing payrolls accurately and in accordance with established pay schedules. Handle service awards program and assist in daily HRIS and payroll functions as requested.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Process payrolls timely and accurately and in accordance to established pay schedules and applicable laws and regulations. Run payroll jobs to print checks, direct deposit advices and other payroll reports. Handle all payroll related functions.
  • Ensure that payroll records are maintained according to the record retention guidelines established by law.
  • Maintain all records required for SOX compliance and audit requests.
  • Prepare bank deposits and direct deposit transmissions.
  • Serve as back up to Payroll Supervisor as required.
  • Maintain the service award program to ensure that managers receive service awards timely.
  • Handle office purchasing function, sort and distribute mail, oversee departmental mailings.
  • Report employment information to appropriate states as required by law and complete verification forms as needed.
  • Maintain company car program.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE MINIMUMS:
  • BS Degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting or related field
  • Minimum of 0-3 years relevant experience in Human Resources or Payroll
  • Or equivalent combination of experience and education
 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
  • BS Degree in Human Resources, Business, Accounting or related field
  • 3-5 years of relative experience
  • Payroll Experience
  • CPP desired
 
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll practices and procedures
  • Able to handle multiple tasks concurrently, focus on detail and tolerate multiple work interruptions
  • Able to analyze and organize information
  • Able to perform general ledger account reconciliations and basic accounting knowledge
  • Demonstrate flexibility and the ability to take direction from multiple sources
  • Able to function productively in a team-oriented environment
  • Able to provide a high level of customer service
  • Able to adhere to strict deadlines
